Hello, I am Sophie
I work as a project manager, am a parent, and I'm an expat living in Paris, France.
Several years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to France wasn’t in our long-range plan. As with many expatriate relocations, it started as a job chance and soon grew into something far greater.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, routines, and expectations. Ordinary tasks started to feel more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Period
The Adaptation Phase — there was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the job. Over time, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built WillowPraxisIvory
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to close that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in France.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Real-world experience from living in France
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated when a genuine change occurs
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Nor a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in France continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll keep recording what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Paris or anywhere in France, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Sophie
